Particle shapes from LAMMPS files

Hi Everyone,

LAMMPS seems to support various particle shapes: sphere, dipole, ellipsoid, line, tri, peri, and body as discussed here: https://lammps.sandia.gov/doc/Howto_spherical.html

Does Ovito support the visualization of some or all of these? If so, an example input for triangles would be greatly appreciated. I could not find anything in the test input files related to particle shapes.

Thank you,

Botond

Hi,

please see https://www.ovito.org/docs/current/howto.aspherical_particles.php for a detailed description on how to visualize non-spherical particle shapes.
OVITO also supports several common geometry file formats such as STL, OBJ and VTK, which allows you to give particles a free-form shape. When you open the Particle Types settings under "Data Source" in the GUI, you'll find the option "Load shape".
