openGL Version: 3.1.0 - Build 9.17.10.4459 Intel HD Graphics 3000 not working

Hi,

my laptop has Version: 3.1.0 - Build 9.17.10.4459 as Intel HD Graphics 3000 and it does not lauch normally.

 C:\path\to\ovito.exe --noviewports

It does with this, but there is no way to update my drivers. Should I install older drivers or is there a different solution?

Hi Mark,

I know that this may not be a satisfying answer for you, but a few older graphics drivers are simply not compatible with OVITO. In particular we learned from numerous user reports over the last 10 years or so that the following integrated graphics units exhibit serious compatibility issues (only under the Windows operating system):

  • Intel(R) HD Graphics 2000 (driver version 9.17.10.4459)
  • Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 (driver versions 9.17.10.4459 or 9.17.10.4229)
  • Intel(R) HD Graphics (driver version 9.17.10.2875)

These graphics drivers do not support or correctly implement the specific OpenGL functions required by OVITO. There is no known workaround to make OVITO work on systems with these integrated graphics units. I am sorry, I can only suggest to upgrade to more modern hardware.
