Installing ovito in Centos

Hi,

I am installing ovito on CENTOS for the first time

I follow the instructions and also install

sudo yum install libxcb xcb-util-image xcb-util-keysyms xcb-util-renderutil xcb-util-wm

But when I execute

./bin/ovito

I get the error

./bin/ovito: symbol lookup error: /lib64/libk5crypto.so.3: undefined symbol: EVP_KDF_ctrl, version OPENSSL_1_1_1b

Clearly, I am missing some library. But I do not which one.

Also, is it possible to install ovito from conda, or it is just ovito PRO that can be installed?

Finally, is there somewhere I can find all the differences between ovito and ovito PRO.

Thanks a lot

Hi!

1)

Please have a look at this old forum thread, where another Ovito user was facing a similar problem:

https://www.ovito.org/forum/topic/running-problem/

Does the solution I was proposing there work for you too? If not, which CentOS version do you use?

2)

An Ovito version for Anaconda (provided by a third party), which is more or less identical to our "OVITO Basic" product, is available in the conda-forge channel:

https://anaconda.org/conda-forge/ovito

3)

We have not compiled a single, complete list of all differences between OVITO Basic and OVITO Pro. But all program features that are exclusively available in OVITO Pro are marked with the colored "Pro" tag in the OVITO user manual, see here for example. Furthermore, you can find a high-level overview of the most important Pro features on this page on our website. If this information is not sufficient for you, please do not hesitate to contact us for further details. We can then make an effort to compile a more complete feature list for you.
